Tragic Paragliding Accident Claims British Tourist in Catalonia
A 63‑year‑old British tourist died after a paragliding accident near the town of Tremp in Spain’s Catalonia region, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
Emergency services were called at about 13:30 local time. The man was found badly injured in the Palau de Noguera area and received first aid before medical teams arrived, but he did not survive.
While the Catalan government said three fire brigades and two medical teams attended the scene, the exact cause of the fall remains unclear. Local media suggested the pilot may have tangled in power lines, but official investigation has yet to confirm.
The UK Foreign Office has said it is supporting the man’s family, who will likely be informed via the British consular channels in Spain. The incident underscores the risks of adventure sports in the Pyrenees.
