At least 30 civilians were killed and 18 wounded when Russian glide bombs struck two buses in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine, officials say.

Authorities also report three deaths in the nearby village of Bilenke and added that the strike was part of Moscow's push to seize the Donbas region.

Zelensky warned that the attack would prompt a harsh international response and called for “concrete action” from allies.

Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin urged residents to evacuate the fortress belt of Kramatorsk and Slovyansk, citing daily glide‑bomb raids that have left civilian transport grounded.

Ukraine's military and civil infrastructure have already been hit in a surge of attacks: a five‑storey block of flats in Pryluky was destroyed, killing 22 people, including five children.

The United Nations reports that Ukraine has seen higher civilian casualty figures in 2026 than in all of 2025, highlighting the escalating toll.

The Kremlin has offered no comment on the latest strike, while the West announces new sanctions targeting Russia's war machine and financial networks.
