Russian Strikes Target Kyiv Bridges

Over the past four days, Moscow has sharpened its attacks on Kyiv, striking the city’s crucial Northern and Southern bridges.

The Pivnichnyi (Northern) Bridge, already damaged, endured a second strike, while the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge saw multiple hits earlier in the week.

BBC Ukraine correspondent Dan Johnson, standing near the southern bridge, explains what the strikes mean for infrastructure and civilian movement.

The latest drone attack coincided with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s surprise visit to Kyiv, adding another layer of tension to an already volatile day.
