Fake Nurse Arrested in Florida After Treating Over 4,000 Patients
A woman was arrested in Florida for impersonating a nurse, raising serious concerns about healthcare fraud.
In a shocking case of medical fraud, a woman has been apprehended in Florida after it was discovered that she posed as a registered nurse and treated over 4,486 patients. Autumn Bardisa, 29, was working at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway from July 2023 until January 2025, when her contract was terminated due to concerns regarding her qualifications.
The investigation began after hospital management raised alarms about Bardisa's credentials, leading police to find that she submitted false documents and used a license number belonging to a legitimate nurse sharing her first name from a different facility. The discrepancies were explained by Bardisa as a result of a recent marriage, yet she failed to produce a marriage license when requested.
In January, after being offered a promotion, a colleague reported Bardisa when they discovered her nursing assistant license had expired. Following this report, her contract was terminated, and a comprehensive criminal investigation was launched over the next seven months.
Bardisa now faces seven charges of practicing a healthcare profession without a license and seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information. She was arrested wearing scrubs at her home on August 5th. Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly condemned Bardisa's actions, stating, "This woman potentially put thousands of lives at risk by pretending to be someone she was not and violating the trust of patients, their families, AdventHealth, and an entire medical community."
To aid in the investigation, the Sheriff's office has established an email for patients who suspect they received medical treatment from Bardisa: fakenursecase@flaglersheriff.com. Bardisa is currently held at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility with a bond set at $70,000.
