Teens Target Celeb Homes: Brad Pitt's Burglary Uncovered

Four teenagers arrested for celebrity home burglaries raise concerns for LA’s rich and famous.

LA Police detail how a gang of teens has been preying on high-profile residents, with Brad Pitt's home among the latest targets.

In a shocking revelation, four teenagers have been apprehended for allegedly ransacking the home of actor Brad Pitt and conducting a string of other celebrity burglaries in Los Angeles. According to Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell, the suspects, all members of a street gang, include two 18-year-olds, a 17-year-old, and a 16-year-old. Authorities found stolen property during searches of their residences.

While police have not disclosed specific details about the other celebrities affected, notable names such as Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, LA Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and former LA Football Club striker Olivier Giroud have reported burglaries this year.

The investigation commenced in late June when Pitt's residence was invaded by masked thieves. McDonnell described how the burglars scaled a fence surrounding Pitt's property in Los Feliz, smashed a window, stole items, and fled the scene. Although police have not confirmed the home’s ownership, the address aligns with a property Pitt acquired in 2023. Nestled near Griffith Park, the three-bedroom house is concealed from public view by its perimeter fence and surrounding foliage.

At the time of the burglary, the star was absent, engaged in promoting his new film, F1. The investigation unveiled that the young men were part of a crew responsible for targeting various prominent individuals in the city. Last week, authorities tracked the suspects and charged them with burglary.

McDonnell provided insight into the sophisticated tactics employed by this group, including the use of surveillance cameras disguised in flowerbeds near the targeted homes and wi-fi jammers to disable security systems. Notably, he highlighted the unfortunate reality that high-profile individuals are often easier targets due to their public personas and social media activities.

“Posting about your travels can inadvertently signal to potential thieves that you're not home,” McDonnell warned, urging caution when sharing such information online. As the investigation continues, celebrities and local officials alike are left grappling with the implications of these burglaries and the growing prevalence of such crimes in their communities.
