In brief

As the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip escalates, the health ministry warns that dozens of wounded patients face imminent death at the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza due to insufficient access to food and water. This dire report comes amid continuous military actions and airstrikes affecting the region.

Dozens of injured individuals at the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip are facing life-threatening conditions due to a severe lack of food and water, as reported by local health authorities. According to the Gaza health ministry, approximately 60 wounded patients are “at risk of death” because essential supplies have become nearly impossible to procure. “The humanitarian situation inside the hospital has become extremely dangerous, as the wounded lack basic needs,” the ministry stated, urgently appealing to the international community for intervention “to save the lives of these patients.”This alarming announcement coincided with the United Nations commemorating the 75th anniversary of Human Rights Day, a date which marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, expressed deep concern over the conflict, stating that the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas had “stained our shared humanity” and violated the very principles of international law that the UN upholds. In recent weeks, Israel’s military operations have sharply intensified in northern Gaza, aimed at quelling what it describes as a resurgence of Hamas. As the conflict escalates, the focus has shifted from Gaza to other areas in the region, including tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, as well as developments in Syria. On Monday night, a reported airstrike in Beit Hanoun claimed the lives of 25 individuals, as confirmed by Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense. The Israeli military has yet to comment on this incident. Despite ongoing calls for civilians to evacuate northern Gaza, many residents have been displaced multiple times and find themselves with no safe haven to turn to.The humanitarian crisis continues to deepen as the impact of military actions reverberates through the already vulnerable population of Gaza, raising urgent questions about the provision of essential care and the international response to the growing need for aid.
