Representatives from the European Union, the United States, and Ukraine will convene in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss Ukraine’s post‑war reconstruction and prosperity, the European Commission said, according to a spokesperson.
The meeting, hosted by the European Commission, will also include delegates from France, Germany, Britain, NATO, and the World Bank, European Commission Chief Spokesperson Paula Pinho told a daily press briefing.
"This meeting will build on earlier talks held in Miami with Ukrainian and U.S. representatives, with a view to achieving a ‘lasting, sustainable peace’ in Ukraine," said Pinho.
In addition to Brussels, the European Commission indicated that the session would be chaired at the national security adviser level, although the specific official had not yet been named. Details regarding U.S. participation were described as not yet available.
Earlier on Tuesday, NATO spokesperson Allison Hart confirmed to Xinhua that NATO representatives would meet with officials from France, Germany, Britain, and the United States in Brussels later that week to discuss how to bring about a “just and lasting” end to the war in Ukraine. Hart added that the meeting would build on prior discussions in Miami and Oslo, but did not disclose the exact date, participants or agenda.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff also announced on social media Monday that U.S. negotiators would meet representatives from France, Germany, Britain, the EU and NATO in Brussels this week to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe’s post‑war security architecture and economic opportunities to support Ukraine’s reconstruction.
"U.S. negotiators would meet representatives from France, Germany, Britain, the EU and NATO in Brussels this week to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, Europe’s post‑war security architecture and economic opportunities to support Ukraine’s reconstruction," Witkoff said.
Witkoff also signaled that the United States would mediate working‑level negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, where talks would focus on post‑war security arrangements, de‑escalation, humanitarian efforts and next steps toward peace.
The Brussels meeting is part of a broader effort by the European Union to secure a prosperous future for Ukraine, as well as to reinforce Europe’s post‑war security architecture, according to the European Commission spokesman. The gathered delegations aim to outline a comprehensive plan that blends security guarantees, economic support, and reconstruction initiatives.
Overall, the event underscores cooperation among EU members, NATO allies, and the United States to foster lasting stability in Ukraine, while the U.S. prepares to facilitate diplomatic engagement between Ukraine and Russia in Abu Dhabi later in the month.
