WASHINGTON — The wife of Renee Good has shared a poignant tribute to her partner, who was tragically shot and killed by a federal immigration agent in Minneapolis. On the day of the incident, the couple had paused to offer support to their neighbors when the shocking events unfolded.
In her first public statement regarding the loss, Rebecca Good reflected on the couple’s commitment to kindness and community. We had whistles. They had guns, she stated, as she described her wife as a mother of three leaving behind a legacy of love.
On that fateful Wednesday, Renee Good, 37, was surrounded by three Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents while driving her Honda Pilot. Bystander footage captured the moment an officer demanded she open her vehicle's door before another officer fired multiple shots, resulting in her death.
Despite the Trump administration’s characterization of Renee as a domestic terrorist attempting to run over an officer, local officials and protesters have vehemently rejected that narrative. Rebecca Good has remained focused on memorializing Renee rather than responding to the escalating discourse.
The couple, who had recently relocated to Minneapolis from Kansas City, were raising Renee’s 6-year-old son. Rebecca spoke to her wife’s radiant personality, saying, Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled... made of sunshine.
Rebecca expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from across the nation, stating, We are raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. In the wake of this tragedy, she urges the community to embrace love and understanding.
