Severe Casualties in Southern Lebanon After Israeli Air Strikes
According to Lebanese media, at least 17 civilians were killed in the latest round of aerial assaults, heightening uncertainty over the ongoing Israel–Iran–Lebanon tensions.
Four bombings in the town of Tayr Debba alone brought nine fatalities. In addition, two strikes in the villages of Deir Qanoun el‑Nahr and Seddiqin killed three people, while an attack in the centre of Sidon claimed two more lives.
Hezbollah, the Iranian‑backed militia, has issued counter‑attacks on Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, continuing an escalating cycle that began in March when a shelling of a Hezbollah position led to the death of an Iranian supreme leader’s top aide.
The United Nations has dispatched a human‑rights team to investigate possible violations by all parties, with a first report expected by the end of July. Israel has been notified but may limit cooperation.
Despite a ceasefire brokered last year, hostilities persist, with the war now claimed to have killed nearly 3,700 people in Lebanon.
