Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has secured a temporary restraining order against a man who allegedly attempted to break into her Los Angeles home.
Carpenter, age 27, filed a court petition claiming the individual, William Applegate, entered her property uninvited, tried to force the front door, and continued to loiter outside the house after being confronted by security personnel. The singer cited the incidents as “deeply alarming” and stated they caused her ongoing fear for personal safety.
The documents revealed a pattern of behaviour that began in mid‑April. Applegate reportedly trespassed onto a neighbour’s land before approaching the Carpenter residence on several occasions. After a confrontation at the front door on May 23, he returned less than a day later and stayed outside for hours; a subsequent day he parked his vehicle near the property.
Carpenter provided doorbell‑camera footage to the court and requested protection not only for herself but also for her sister and the sister’s boyfriend who live with her. A judge granted a temporary order that requires Applegate to stay at least 100 yards from the Carpenter home, car, workplace and the residences of the other parties.
Applegate is scheduled to appear in criminal court the following day on the charges of criminal trespassing. A follow‑up hearing to determine a longer‑term restriction is set for June 17.
Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department included a declaration noting that Applegate’s behaviour exhibits classic signs of stalking and obsession, describing the pattern as an “irregular fixation on petitioner” that poses a serious risk to safety.
