More than 120,000 people gathered in Cameroon to join Pope Leo XIV for one of the largest open-air Masses during his African tour. The event, held at the Japoma Stadium, marked a moment of spiritual unity for a nation impacted by years of conflict.

After arriving in Douala, the Pope focused his message on hope and peace, reaching out to a nation deeply affected by the enduring Anglophone crisis. He encouraged the youth to channel their energies toward community service, rejecting all forms of violence and corruption.

The venue was filled with jubilant crowds, many of whom had camped out overnight to secure their spot for the event. The Pope, appearing in his Popemobile, acknowledged the eager attendees with waves and blessings as they expressed their devotion.

Pope Leo XIV’s messages resonated as he charged the youth to diversify their talents while emphasizing the importance of nurturing supportive communities. His visit served to reinforce the collective yearning for peace among worshippers from various backgrounds.

As part of his tour, the Pope has dedicated time to addressing the socio-political crises affecting the region, hoping to foster dialogue and healing. After concluding his visit in Cameroon, he is scheduled to travel to Angola and Equatorial Guinea next.
