Police have detained a person in connection to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of US news anchor Savannah Guthrie. Sources familiar with the investigation indicated that the detainment occurred during a traffic stop and that police are currently executing a court-authorized search at a location in Rio Rico, south of Tucson, Arizona.

Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her home near Tucson more than a week ago, prompting extensive search efforts and pleas from her family. Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the detained individual, but as the investigation unfolds, the family remains anxious for Nancy's return.

Adding to the urgency of the situation, the FBI released images and videos showing a masked individual on Nancy Guthrie's doorstep on the night of her abduction. This person was armed and tampered with the home’s surveillance system, raising alarm and questions regarding the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

In a press briefing, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that US President Donald Trump is closely monitoring the investigation and has urged the public to provide any information to the FBI. The family has been actively using social media to raise awareness about the case, with Savannah Guthrie sharing videos urging for public assistance while emphasizing her mother’s fragile health and need for medication.

The investigation continues as authorities respond to a series of ransom notes and have found blood at Guthrie's home. A reward of $50,000 is being offered for information leading to her safe return.
