BATON ROUGE, La. — A disturbing scene unfolded at the Mall of Louisiana on Thursday when a violent confrontation escalated into a gunfight between two groups inside the food court. According to police reports, at least 10 people were injured in the chaos, with several being treated in local hospitals, some requiring surgery.
Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards expressed his determination to bring those responsible to justice, stating, “To the thugs that did this, we’re going to catch you.” Witnesses described a rapid police response to the scene, as individuals involved in the gunfire fled amid the commotion.
Police Chief TJ Morse confirmed that innocent bystanders were caught in the crossfire and implored anyone with video of the incident to assist in the investigation. Right now there is no known threat to the public,” he assured, signaling that the immediate area was secure.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry acknowledged the severity of the situation and advised residents to steer clear of the mall.
