Trump Nominates Tammy Bruce as Deputy UN Ambassador
Former Fox News host set to potentially strengthen U.S. presence at the UN.
In a recent update on Truth Social, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the nomination of former Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce as the potential new Deputy Representative of the United States to the United Nations. Bruce, who has held the position of State Department spokeswoman since Trump began his presidency in January, received high praise from Trump, who commended her excellent work in her current role.
Prior to her government service, Bruce had an extensive career as a conservative commentator, spending over two decades at Fox News and writing multiple books criticizing liberal politics, such as "Fear Itself: Exposing the Left's Mind-Killing Agenda."
Trump acknowledged her contributions to the State Department and expressed confidence in her ability to represent U.S. interests on the global stage. "I am pleased to announce that I am nominating Tammy Bruce, a Great Patriot, Television Personality and Bestselling Author, as our next Deputy Representative of the United States to the United Nations, with the rank of Ambassador," Trump noted in his social media post.
If her nomination is approved by the Senate, it remains uncertain when Bruce would officially assume the role. During her time as State Department spokeswoman, she has defended various contentious U.S. foreign policy decisions, including significant immigration policies and the controversial decision to utilize private military contractors for humanitarian aid in Gaza.
As it stands, Trump’s appointee for the UN ambassador position, Mike Waltz, is also awaiting Senate confirmation, while Dorothy Shea, the acting ambassador, serves in the interim.
