Minnesota Shooting Suspect Planned Broader Attack on Lawmakers, Officials Reveal

In a shocking development from Minnesota, officials revealed on Monday that Vance Luther Boelter, the man accused of murdering Democratic state lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark, had intentions to kill two additional lawmakers. U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson described Boelter’s actions as part of a larger, “truly chilling” plan involving surveillance and targeting of lawmakers' homes. During a court appearance, Boelter, 57, faced multiple federal charges, including murder and stalking, that could lead to the death penalty if convicted.

According to authorities, Boelter had meticulously researched his victims, and his attacks involved impersonating a police officer while armed with multiple firearms. His campaign of violence included an unsuccessful attempt to enter the home of John and Yvette Hoffman, who sustained severe injuries during the attack.
