Hollywood star Jamie Foxx has opened up about the medical crisis that led to his hospitalization in April 2023. The beloved actor, known for his impactful roles in films like Django Unchained, shared poignant details during a Netflix special titled "Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...," filmed in Atlanta, where he was working when he fell ill. He disclosed that he suffered a "brain bleed that led to a stroke," after experiencing a severe headache. Although he initially asked for aspirin, he blacked out before he could take it, leading to a memory blackout for 20 days.

Initially, his family only shared that he faced a "medical complication." However, on stage, Foxx explained how his sister, Deidra Dixon, noticed something was off with him and took him to Piedmont Hospital, where doctors diagnosed the brain bleed. He recounts a doctor's urgency that suggested immediate surgery to save his life. During the operation, he shared that his sister was outside praying for him, showcasing the family's support during the crisis.

Reflecting on his experience, Foxx described the moment before losing consciousness as surprisingly peaceful, even humorously mentioning seeing a hot tunnel. He recalled waking up on May 4, 2023, in a wheelchair, overwhelmed by disbelief at his condition, remarking, "Jamie Foxx don't get strokes."

The actor emphasized the importance of privacy during his recovery, crediting his sister and daughter, Corinne Foxx, for keeping his condition under wraps until he was ready to share. At the time of his health scare, Foxx was filming Netflix’s Back In Action alongside Cameron Diaz. He later underwent rehabilitation in Chicago, and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from his family, confirming this special was the first time he shared such detail about his health struggles.
