In a New Year’s Eve post, Ban detailed her accident, stating that she had fallen while skiing at the top of a mountain. She noted that after wearing a helmet during the fall, everything seemed fine initially, allowing her to ski to the bottom. However, after feeling lingering headaches, she followed a paramedic's recommendation and went to the hospital, where doctors discovered a brain bleed, ultimately leading to a craniotomy.

Ban reflected on her injury in her post, proclaiming, "In a blink of an eye... life can change." She expressed hope for recovery while sharing a photo from her hospital bed, reassuring fans with the sentiment that she considers herself a survivor.
