Valuable hard drives containing unreleased tracks and sensitive tour information were taken from a car in Atlanta during Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour.
In a startling incident just days before Beyoncé's highly anticipated four-night Cowboy Carter tour stop in Atlanta, authorities confirmed that unreleased music and crucial tour materials were stolen from a vehicle. The items were taken on July 8, two days prior to the first show, from a rental car used by the singer's choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer, Diandre Blue.
Reportedly, the vehicle, a Black Jeep Wagoneer, was parked while the duo stepped into a food hall. Upon their return, they found the rear window smashed and two suitcases missing, according to police reports. The stolen items included hard drives containing "five jump drives with watermarked music, unreleased tracks, plans for past and future shows, and set lists," alongside personal belongings such as a laptop, designer clothing, and Apple AirPods.
In response to the theft, Atlanta police have issued an arrest warrant, although details about the suspect remain undisclosed. Grant and Blue informed authorities that they were responsible for handling sensitive information for Beyoncé, making the crime particularly concerning.
Investigators took measures to track the stolen electronics using their tracking features, and fingerprint analysis conducted on the vehicle revealed "two very light prints". The current status of the stolen items is unclear as authorities continue to pursue leads.
Beyoncé has been performing in Atlanta since July 10, with her final concert scheduled for Monday night. The event was further highlighted by a surprise appearance from her husband, rapper Jay Z, during the third night of her show. The BBC has reached out for comments from a representative of Beyoncé regarding the recent theft.
