Halle Bailey Seeks Legal Protection from Ex-Boyfriend DDG Amid Allegations of Abuse
Actress and singer Halle Bailey has obtained a restraining order against her former partner, rapper DDG, amid serious allegations of abuse.
Halle Bailey, the star of Disney's "The Little Mermaid," has been granted a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend and father of her child, rapper DDG, over disturbing allegations of abuse. The order was issued by a Los Angeles judge after Bailey, 25, claimed that her former partner, 27-year-old Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., exhibited repeated violent behavior that left her fearing for her safety and that of their one-year-old son, Halo.
According to court documents, Bailey alleged that since their breakup in October, Granberry has been physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards her. She stated, "I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse."
The allegations include a troubling January altercation where Bailey claims Granberry pulled her hair, slammed her face onto a steering wheel, and caused her to chip a tooth. Bailey reportedly provided photographic evidence of her injuries in her court filing.
The situation escalated further when Bailey accused Granberry of entering her home without permission, sending her a threatening message that suggested she was unfaithful. Following this, Bailey alleged that an encounter led to Granberry smashing her Ring doorbell camera and physically confronting her when she sought assistance from a relative.
In response to these accusations, the judge has mandated that DDG stay away from Bailey and their son and prohibited him from carrying weapons. Furthermore, she has requested that he cease using his social media to spread negative content about her, which has reportedly resulted in threats directed at Bailey.
Bailey first rose to fame as one-half of the musical duo Chloe x Halle and later gained recognition for her television role in the sitcom "Grown-ish." DDG, who gained a following through YouTube before transitioning into music, has released four studio albums since signing a record deal in 2018. The upcoming court hearing will determine whether the restraining order will be extended for up to five years.
