In brief
Saudi Aramco reported a 9% year‑over‑year rise in Q3 adjusted net income to $31.2 billion, driven by robust downstream performance and major upstream developments. The company also announced a $21.9 billion base dividend and its acquisition of half‑stake in AI startup HUMAIN, underscoring a commitment to innovation amid geopolitical tensions.
In Riyadh, on Tuesday, Saudi Oil & Gas Company (Aramco) announced that its adjusted net income for the third quarter of 2026 rose 9 percent year‑on‑year to US$31.2 billion, according to a statement issued by the company and reported by Xinhua and the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The same announcement revealed a base dividend of US$21.9 billion for the quarter, as declared by the Board of Directors.
Downstream operations delivered a remarkable 234 percent jump in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, citing stronger refining margins. This performance was highlighted by both Xinhua and SPA as a key factor behind the rise in net income.
Over the quarter, upstream activities continued to advance. Production began at the Zuluf crude oil increment, while other major projects—including Jafurah Phase Two, the Fadhili Gas Plant expansion, and the Dammam Field Development—remained on schedule, according to the company’s release to both news agencies.
The East‑West Pipeline, a critical export artery, kept providing flexibility for export flows. Aramco also noted plans to explore additional overseas storage capacity and alternative export routes to strengthen its global supply network, a sentiment echoed in both Xinhua and SPA reports.
In the AI arena, Aramco announced a 49‑percent stake in the startup HUMAIN, a move that included the transfer of valuable assets and a cash contribution of approximately US$2.6 billion, as described by Xinhua and reaffirmed in the SPA statement. The acquisition follows a shareholders’ agreement to form a joint venture for mineral exploration and hard‑rock mining.
Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser stressed that the company’s operational flexibility and resilience allowed it to maintain supply stability amid geopolitical tensions. “Backed by our strong balance sheet, we remain focused on the disciplined execution of priority projects, and on leveraging advanced technologies to enhance performance and unlock new opportunities,” Nasser said, according to SPA.
In a related commentary, the Xinhua statement noted that attacks on key energy facilities in the region intensified pressure on global energy supplies during the quarter, yet the company’s workforce dedication and robust supply network helped it continue to deliver reliable energy to customers.
The combined reports from Xinhua and the SPA provide a comprehensive view of Aramco’s performance, reflecting both its financial results and strategic moves in refining, upstream development, and artificial intelligence.
As Aramco balances its expansive operations with new technology investments, the company signals a continued focus on operational excellence, rapid restoration capabilities, flexibility, and resilience within a challenging geopolitical landscape.
