In brief

On November 4, 2026, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center laid the foundation stone for a Continuous Medical and Health Education Center in Hama, Syria. The ceremony was attended by key officials from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, and Saudi Ambassador Ghazi bin Raef Al Anzi highlighted the center’s goal of improving health services across Syria. A concurrent report from Syria Weekly credits a different Hama governor and a local NGO in the ceremony.

On November 4, 2026, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center laid the foundation stone for the newly announced Continuous Medical and Health Education Center (CCMHE) in the city of Hama, Syria.

The ceremony, held under the supervision of the Syrian Ministry of Health, drew officials from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Syria, underscoring the joint commitment to bolstering Syria’s healthcare.

Attendees included Deputy Governor of Hama Mohammed Jihad Ta'ma, Dr. Naif Saleh Alshamri, director of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid office in Jordan and Syria; Dr. Mohammed Al Sharif, the deputy governor for health affairs in Hama; Dr. Feras Morsi, director of health for Hama; a representative from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor; and members of the board of the association.

Ambassador Ghazi bin Raef Al Anzi, the Saudi ambassador to Syria, emphasized that the center aims to combine infrastructure development, medical and educational equipment, and professional training to enhance the quality and reach of healthcare services across Syrian provinces.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the CCMHE will provide a specialized training environment for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, enabling them to update their knowledge and practical skills in a modern setting.

The center is intended to attract health cadres from various Syrian governorates, support local hospitals, and ultimately extend qualified staff throughout the country's healthcare system.

However, an earlier report from Syria Weekly on the same date credited Governor Abulrahman al‑Sahyan with laying the foundation stone, stating that the project involved the King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center and the Aamal Al‑Bar NGO. These two accounts are consistent in noting the involvement of Saudi humanitarian aid but differ in the named officials. Both narratives confirm the inauguration of a new medical education facility designed to deliver continuous training to health workers.
