Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Saudi Arabia on Thursday, following statements about the importance of Ukraine's drones in enhancing security in the Gulf region.

Important meetings are scheduled. We appreciate the support of those who are ready to work with us to ensure security, and we support them too, he mentioned on social media ahead of his visit.

Earlier, Zelensky offered Ukraine's drone technology expertise as a means to bolster global security, particularly in a region vital for energy supplies.
This matters because energy security - and the cost of living, especially in Europe - depends on oil and gas resources, and stable global markets, he stated in a video message directed to the Joint Expeditionary Force summit held in Helsinki.

Zelensky underscored that successful integration of new weapons, particularly drones, into existing defense systems requires not just technology but also operational experience. He noted Ukraine's unique capability in this area.

In return, Zelensky is seeking support from Middle Eastern nations to enhance Ukraine's defense against the ongoing Russian invasion, specifically requesting air defense missiles that Ukraine currently lacks.

Ukrainian drone manufacturers have reported requests from Gulf states for technological assistance, though they await governmental approval to proceed. Kvertus, a Ukrainian firm specializing in anti-drone systems, acknowledged inquiries from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Despite strong interest from Gulf nations, the Ukrainian government remains cautious. Company leaders emphasize that Ukraine's national security remains the top priority, and they are prepared to delay commercial endeavors until they receive necessary government approvals.

Recent media reports have indicated that the U.S. may consider reallocating arms destined for Ukraine to the Gulf region due to rising tensions with Iran, making partnerships in drone technology increasingly essential for Ukraine's strategic position.
