A military helicopter has crashed in Qatar, killing all seven people on board, authorities in the Gulf state say. They report that all the bodies were recovered after the helicopter went down due to a 'technical malfunction' in Qatar's territorial waters on Sunday.

The victims included four Qatari military personnel, one Turkish serviceman, and two technicians from a Turkish defence company. The cause of the crash during the training exercise is currently under investigation.

Turkey maintains a military base in Qatar under a defense agreement signed between the two nations in 2014. In an official statement, Qatar's interior ministry confirmed the death of all seven individuals, expressing its 'deepest condolences' to the families affected.

Turkey's defense ministry indicated that the crashed helicopter was performing a training exercise as part of the Qatar-Turkey Joint Forces Command. The technicians aboard were associated with the Aselsan defense corporation, and Qatari authorities will determine the specific reasons behind the crash.

This tragic event occurs amid ongoing tensions in the region, with the US and Israel continuing military actions against Iran, which, in turn, has retaliated against Israel and US-allied states in the Gulf.
