Three people were injured in a knife attack at a Warsaw school on Saturday, marking the third such incident across Poland within a week.
A 21‑year‑old woman used a knife to stab a 17‑year‑old girl and two other students who were at the school to submit enrolment documents. Authorities say the suspect is a student at the school and had no prior contact with the victims.
Police detained the attacker and are investigating a possible link to an online challenge that has generated a series of attacks across the country. The incident follows a 19‑year‑old who killed nine people in a Polish vocational school earlier in the week, and a 37‑year‑old caretaker who died after a 15‑year‑old entered a primary school in northern Warsaw.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk has declared that "there is no room for compromise" on school safety, and police have stepped up security in schools nationwide, detaining 76 people since the first alert.
The injured 17‑year‑old has been taken to hospital and is in stable condition. The other two injuries were described as non‑life‑threatening. The police have not yet confirmed whether the attacks are connected to each other.
