Police in Central Java have arrested a 40‑year‑old Indonesian man after forensic evidence showed his mother‑in‑law died from rat‑poison poisoning. The suspect, Purwadi Wahyudi, allegedly laced chicken satay with toxic chemicals and delivered it to his 57‑year‑old mother‑in‑law, Aminah, through a food‑delivery app.
Purwadi ordered the skewers on 18 May and used the name and photo of his sister‑in‑law to create a fake delivery account. The delivery driver noticed the mismatch and raised suspicions before the food reached Aminah’s home. The next day the victim was found dead, covered in vomit, at the residence.
Police investigators later exhumed Aminah’s body and conducted toxicology tests that detected rat poison in her organs. The investigation “showed a carefully planned plot,” said Indrawan Wira Saputra, head of the Boyolali police’s criminal investigation unit.
Purwadi has been detained but is not yet formally charged. In Indonesia, murder can carry the death penalty or a minimum of 20 years in prison.
