Ukrainian drones entered Estonian and Latvian air spaces from Russia overnight, with one hitting infrastructure and another crashing on land, Tallinn and Riga have said.

One struck the chimney of a power plant in Auvere, Estonia, while another exploded in the southern Kraslava region of Latvia.

No major damage or injuries were reported.

The incident occurred around the same time as Ukraine launched a massive drone attack on the Russian port of Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea, approximately 25 km (15 miles) from the Estonian border.

Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal stated that Ust-Luga was attacked in three waves between 03:00 and 08:00 local time. In response, Baltic air patrols were activated and Estonians were warned on their phones about a 'drone threat.'

Security police chief Margo Palloson remarked that it was 'a Ukrainian drone that deviated from its course, which was possibly affected in Russian airspace.'

Latvian Prime Minister Edgars Rinkevics confirmed that the drone which landed in Latvia was also Ukrainian.

In light of the incident, Latvian Defence Minister Andris Spruds cut short his visit to Ukraine and returned home.

Egils Lescinskis, Latvia's deputy chief of the Joint Staff, suggested that the drone's deviation could have been due to electromagnetic warfare measures affecting its navigation.

While speaking about the safety of local residents, Lescinskis acknowledged that complete safety was not feasible given the ongoing military operations nearby.

Palloson warned that Estonia might experience further similar incidents, with Michal stating the futility of attempting to build a wall along the border with Russia.

Similar incidents were noted in Lithuania, highlighting ongoing tensions and risks associated with military operations in the region.

Ust-Luga is significant for Russian oil exports, and the attack there resulted in a fire that was brought under control. Ukraine has been consistently targeting Russian energy installations, indicating a heightened state of conflict between the two nations.

During the previous night, Ukraine launched nearly 400 drones targeting several Russian regions, while Russia retaliated with a substantial attack on Ukraine, showcasing the severity of the ongoing conflict.
