A Deadly Delivery
Police detained a 40‑year‑old man in Boyolali, Central Java, after evidence linked his package of chicken satay to the death of his 57‑year‑old mother‑in‑law, Aminah. Investigators believe the suspect, Purwadi Wahyudi, laced the skewers with rat poison before sending them via a popular delivery app.
The Plan
According to detectives, Purwadi placed the satay in the delivery tray, claimed to be a delivery agent, and used his sister‑in‑law’s name and photo to create a false identity on the app. The victim, unaware of the danger, accepted the meal and, according to forensic reports, succumbed to poison in her home the following day.
Forensic Findings
Forensic testing of Aminah’s organs revealed high levels of toxic chemicals consistent with rat poison, affirming the investigation’s theory. Authorities also noted evidence of dead chickens near her coop, correlating with the delivery’s suspected contents.
Legal Status
Purwadi has been formally identified as a suspect and detained, but formal murder charges have not yet been filed. In Indonesia, an official murder conviction can lead to the death penalty or at least a 20‑year sentence.
Community Response
The victim’s daughter reported that the satay was not from her kitchen and warned her mother never to eat the delivery. A neighbor also observed dead chickens fading near the victim’s coop, sparking local alarm. The incident underscores the need for vigilance over third‑party meal deliveries.
