Lindsey Graham’s Sister Darline to Serve as Interim Senator

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced that Darline Graham Nordone, who has been a constant presence in Senator Lindsey Graham’s personal and political life, will fill the vacant seat left by the 71‑year‑old’s sudden death on Saturday.
Nordone, a mother of two who works supporting people with disabilities, will serve from Monday until the end of the term in January 2027.

The vote came the same day the Washington D.C. medical examiner reported the Senator had died of an aortic dissection, a fatal cardiovascular condition. Graham was leaving office after a run for re‑election, and had just returned from a trip to Kyiv before the fatal event.

An in‑house aide noted that the decision was “a tribute” to an ailing senator who never married or had children; his sister had been adopted by the Senator in childhood to secure benefits for her.
