Ireland Police Partner With Jordanian Authorities Over Killarney Murder

Irish investigators are collaborating with Jordanian law‑enforcement after a woman in her 40s named Jamey Carney was pronounced dead at a Killarney address on Tuesday. Authorities say the suspect, known to the victim, has escaped and is believed to be in Jordan, a country with no extradition treaty with Ireland.

Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan confirmed that Gardaí will pursue the suspect globally. He acknowledged the difficulty of extraditing a person to a jurisdiction without a formal agreement but pledged that every line of inquiry would be followed.

The investigation has alerted Interpol and Europol, signalling a multi‑agency response. Gardaí report that the suspect reportedly took a bus to Dublin before flying to the Middle East.

Sources state that the suspect is described as a “person of interest” and has not been publicly named. The arrest in Kerry is part of an international effort to bring the case to justice.

O’Callaghan extended condolences to Carney’s family and emphasised the Garda Commissioner’s confidence in global police cooperation. The case highlights the challenges of cross‑border criminal investigations in the absence of extradition agreements.
