In a shocking episode that has gripped Shreveport, Louisiana, investigators are piecing together the timeline leading up to a mass shooting that tragically took the lives of eight children. The assault-style gun used in the crime is reportedly believed to have been stolen from Charles Ford by Shamar Elkins, the father of the seven deceased children.

According to court documents released recently, Ford informed investigators that he noticed the gun missing around March 9, weeks before the shooting. He confronted Elkins, who was the last person known to have ridden with him, but when Elkins reacted defensively, Ford did not pursue the claim any further.

Following the shooting incident, which also left Elkins’ wife and another woman injured, Ford faces federal charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm and making a false statement to federal agents.

In a statement, U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller emphasized the importance of ensuring accountability regarding the firearm used in these heinous acts, highlighting how justice in this case is also about providing some closure to the grieving Shreveport community.

As the situation unfolds, Ford awaits legal representation while the family of Elkins remains unreachable for comments. The federal court proceedings will be closely monitored as they unravel the implications of this tragic shooting.

The eight children who lost their lives during the rampage, which involved multiple locations, ranged in age from just 3 to 11 years old, reflecting the heartbreaking nature of the violence that swept through this community.
