Do Republicans blame Trump for high oil prices?
President Donald Trump claimed the Iran war would end immediately after the US mid‑term elections, and he blamed the surge in oil prices on the conflict.
Oil prices shot up to $100 (≈ £74) a barrel after the US and Iran attacked tankers in the Gulf, while Yemen’s Houthis struck oil facilities in Saudi Arabia.
BBC correspondent Sarah Smith was on location at the Republican Party’s first mid‑terms convention in Texas, where she asked voters how they thought the price spike would influence the election.
