In a heartbreaking turn of events, a British woman has succumbed following an accident during a white-water rafting trip in the stunning French Alps. The incident occurred along the Guisane River in Briançon on Saturday afternoon, where the woman fell from her raft shortly after 12:00 PM local time. Despite immediate efforts to rescue her, including an airlift to a nearby hospital, the regional prosecutor, Marion Lozac'hmeur, later confirmed that she passed away due to her injuries. The Foreign Office has acknowledged the situation and is liaising with local authorities; however, the identity of the victim has not yet been released.
