Shakira's Resilience and Road to Redemption: A Peek Behind the Scenes of Her Tour

Experience the magic of Shakira's record-breaking tour while she shares her journey of personal upheaval and creative rebirth.

Shakira's Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour represents not only a commercial triumph but also a powerful comeback narrative involving profound personal challenges.

Deep within the Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, a handwritten note on the door of Shakira's production office implores visitors: "Please come back later... unless you're actually on fire." This quirky message captures the intensity surrounding the preparation for what has become one of the highest-grossing stadium tours of the year, generating over $150 million from 64 sold-out shows across North and South America, attracting over two million fans.

The singer expresses pride in her show after meticulously refining every aspect for over a year. "I've worked for over a year, polishing every single detail of the show, so this is really an amazing reward," Shakira shares. Backstage, calm prevails: dancers practice, wardrobe staff attend to hundreds of costumes, and sound technicians ensure everything is pitch-perfect with no signs of stress to be found.

Unique backstage operations reveal interesting tour secrets: “We travel with two washing machines and tumble dryers, because Shakira dances really hard and everything must be fresh for each show,” reveals Hannah Kinkade, who oversees wardrobe management. Meanwhile, stage manager Kevin Rowe gives insights into the tough Miami climate while supplying essentials like iced coffee to the crew.

As the pre-concert sound check begins, Shakira arrives with a vibrant energy, dressed in eye-catching attire and ready to connect with her audience. Those familiar with her performances know that Shakira is a perfectionist who demands excellence from her team and herself. “When she comes in, she’s ready, her character's on, she's full out,” says chief dancer Darina Littleton, capturing the essence of Shakira’s commitment to her craft.

In her two-and-a-half-hour set, Shakira showcases an impressive repertoire of bilingual hits, featuring intricate dance routines and numerous costume changes that keep the audience engaged throughout the concert. The tour title Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women No Longer Cry) mirrors the personal themes explored in her latest album, which draws from some of the toughest moments of her life, including the breakdown of her long-term relationship with footballer Gerard Piqué and various challenges surrounding her family.

Shakira's recent musical ventures, filled with potent emotion, mark her return to the spotlight after a seven-year hiatus. Songs like “Bzrp Music Sessions Vol 53” and “TQG” dig deep into her personal experiences and frustrations stemming from public scrutiny, catapulting her back into popular culture and winning accolades such as the Latin Grammys’ song of the year.

Singing for her children, Shakira acknowledges their presence on stage through video clips, highlighting her commitment as a mother. "They're just everything to me. They're my engine and the reason why I'm alive," she reflects. Despite the pressures of performing, her children, Sasha and Milan, have a complicated relationship with her shows, often feeling anxious about their mother’s performance.

As fans eagerly anticipate the possibility of European shows, Shakira hints at exciting updates to come. Confidently, she promises, “Wait and see,” demonstrating her desire to connect with fans worldwide while carrying the spirit of resilience that defines her incredible journey.

With each performance under the watchful gaze of her symbolic She-Wolf statue, Shakira doesn’t just entertain; she inspires, reminding us all of the importance of perseverance in the face of life’s challenges.
