The sole survivor of last week's devastating Air India plane crash, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, faced the heartbreaking duty of burying his brother Ajay in Diu, India. Ajay was on board the ill-fated Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner that tragically crashed just moments after taking off from Ahmedabad. As he carried his brother's coffin, Ramesh was visibly distressed, still bearing the marks of his own injuries.

Ramesh had spent the past several days recovering in the hospital, with bandages covering his arm and face. The crash, which killed at least 270 people, also saw the loss of 14 locals from Diu, drawing a large number of mourning townspeople to the funeral, despite the heavy rain that fell during the procession.

Eyewitness accounts from first responders revealed that Ramesh displayed incredible bravery as he attempted to return to the burning wreckage to find his brother. Satinder Singh Sandhu, an ambulance driver, recounted the chaos of the crash scene, where he encountered Ramesh emerging from the flames with serious injuries. Sandhu described Ramesh's confusion and desperation to re-enter the wreckage, revealing that he was unaware that he was the only survivor until later.

In an interview, Ramesh expressed his shock at surviving the crash, saying: “For a moment, I felt like I was going to die too. But when I opened my eyes, I realized I was alive.” The investigation into the crash's cause is ongoing, as officials work to analyze the recovered flight data recorders to shed light on the tragedy.

As the tight-knit community of Diu mourns the loss of its residents, Vishwashkumar Ramesh stands as a symbol of resilience amid incomprehensible grief, carrying not only his brother's coffin but also the weight of the recently shattered lives of many families touched by this disaster. The search for answers continues as the investigation unfolds.
