Rute Cardoso shares touching memories on social media, marking a month since the tragic loss of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.
Rute Cardoso, the widow of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, paid tribute to her late husband with a heartfelt post on social media, marking what would have been their first month of marriage. Jota, who tragically lost his life in a car accident in Spain on July 3, was remembered by Cardoso through a series of wedding photos from their June 22 ceremony.
In her Instagram post, Cardoso accompanied the images with a poignant message, stating, “one month of our 'until death do us part'," expressing her everlasting love with the words "Forever, I am yours."
Diogo Jota, who was only 28 at the time of his passing, was involved in a fatal crash when a tyre blow-out led to his Lamborghini crashing and catching fire while driving with his brother, Andre Silva, in Cernadilla, Zamora province, Spain.
Jota joined Liverpool from Wolves in 2020 and made a significant impact, netting 65 goals in 182 appearances. His contributions helped the team secure notable accolades, including the FA Cup and League Cup in 2022 and the Premier League title last season.
In a moving tribute to honor Jota's legacy, Liverpool FC has decided to retire his number 20 shirt. Additionally, a mural has been unveiled near the stadium, adorned with messages from fans mourning the loss of a cherished player.
