R&B legend Angie Stone has died at the age of 63 following a tragic car crash in Alabama.

Angie Stone, the renowned Grammy-nominated R&B artist, has passed away in a car accident, her daughter confirms via social media.

In the early hours of Saturday, the van transporting Stone overturned in Montgomery, Alabama, after she had just completed a performance. Her daughter, Diamond Stone, expressed her sorrow online, stating, "My mommy is gone." Angie Stone, celebrated for her hits like "No More Rain (In This Cloud)" and "Wish I Didn't Miss You," earned three Grammy nominations during her illustrious career.

Stone's musical journey began in the 1970s as part of the influential all-female hip-hop trio, The Sequence, famous for their hit single "Funk You Up," which reached No. 15 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart. In an emotional Facebook post, Diamond, who also pursues music under the name Ladi Diamond, shared her numbed reaction to her mother’s untimely passing and requested prayers for their family.

Additionally, spokespersons have indicated that Stone had been traveling with about nine other passengers at the time of the accident, which left her as the sole fatality. Renowned figure Guy Todd Williams, known as Rahiem from the hip-hop group Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, reflected on her lasting impact on the music scene.

Beyond her contributions to music, Stone ventured into acting, making her film debut in the popular comedy "The Hot Chick" (2002) and went on to star in "The Fighting Temptations" (2003) alongside actors like Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyoncé. The family is expected to share further details about her memorial soon, while authorities in Montgomery are investigating the accident.
