**Massive Protests Erupt in Slovakia Against Prime Minister Robert Fico**

Tens of thousands of Slovaks rally across the nation, denouncing Fico's government amid claims of foreign interference.

Demonstrators express concerns over Fico's stance on Ukraine and his rapprochement with Moscow, with organizers estimating participation numbers reaching 100,000.

Tens of thousands of Slovakians have taken to the streets in a remarkable display of dissent against Prime Minister Robert Fico's government. Protests erupted across approximately 25 towns and cities, as citizens expressed their dissatisfaction with Fico’s populist-nationalist coalition. Organizers from local media estimate turnout at around 100,000 nationwide, with at least 40,000 gathered in the capital city of Bratislava alone.

The protesters have voiced their anger regarding Fico’s approach to undermining vital national institutions, his strained relationship with Ukraine, and his increasing friendliness towards Russia. They reject the Prime Minister's allegations that the demonstrations are being manipulated by liberal opposition elements intent on executing a coup. Fico, however, remains steadfast and denies any intention to withdraw Slovakia from the EU or NATO, affirming that the country's position in these organizations remains secure.

Despite warnings from the Prime Minister about potential provocateurs inciting violence during the protests, there have been no reported incidents of disorder. On Thursday, a significant turnout of 15,000 protesters appeared in Košice, with demonstrations also reported in Banská Bystrica where around 10,000 joined the procession.

Fico claimed that certain foreign “instructors” were present in Slovakia to support the opposition’s efforts to challenge his administration, leading to a directive for police to begin deportations. He also provided an alarming narrative about a "large-scale" cyber attack affecting the nation's health insurer, asserting it was a calculated move by opposition factions and external actors to destabilize his government. However, reports later clarified that the incident was a minor phishing attempt rather than the significant attack suggested.

As tensions rise, the protests illustrate a growing discontent among Slovaks regarding their government's direction and its international affiliations, particularly in relation to ongoing conflicts surrounding Ukraine and Russia. With the opposition growing in strength, the political landscape remains charged as Fico continues to defend his administration amidst an increasingly vocal populace.
