Throngs of fans have descended upon Rio de Janeiro's iconic Copacabana beach for an eagerly awaited free concert featuring pop sensation Lady Gaga. Scheduled for Saturday night, local authorities anticipate attendance to reach a staggering 1.6 million as part of an initiative to rejuvenate the city's economy, estimating a potential influx of $100 million (£75 million) to the local market.

The concert serves as a celebration of Gaga's latest album, *Mayhem*, which includes hits such as "Abracadabra" and "Die With a Smile." Devoted fans, affectionately known as "Little Monsters," began lining up early, braving long waits to secure their spot on the beach.

To ensure safety and organization, Rio's security is on high alert, as 5,000 police officers oversee the event complemented by advanced technology including drones and facial recognition cameras. Lady Gaga's performance is part of a recent tradition of free concerts in Rio, following a similar event featuring Madonna on Copacabana beach in May 2024.

Travelers from across Brazil have made the trek to attend the concert, fueled by excitement and anticipation. One enthusiastic attendee, 28-year-old Luan Messias, expressed his eagerness, recounting a long overnight bus ride from Itanhaem in the neighboring São Paulo state. "I can't wait for her to sing 'Abracadabra,' it's such a fantastic track to dance to, reminiscent of her earlier music," he shared.

Alisha Duarte, a 22-year-old fan who began her day by queuing at 7:40 a.m., said, "Lady Gaga is worth it! It'll be super crowded, but we can handle it." Another concertgoer, Paulo Oliveira, conveyed the profound impact of Lady Gaga's message: "She empowers us to embrace our individuality, stating that being different is something to celebrate."

Lai Borges, another excited fan, described her expectations for the event, “It’s going to be emotional, and I’m definitely going to shed some tears.” With thousands already enjoying the beach atmosphere as they await the concert's start, the stage is set for what promises to be an unforgettable show.
