U.S. Mother Faces Extradition After Alleged Murders of Her Children
Kimberlee Singler's extradition to the U.S. is imminent following a judge's ruling in Westminster Magistrates' Court.
A judge has denied Kimberlee Singler's challenge to her extradition to the United States, where she faces serious allegations of murdering her two children in Colorado before allegedly fleeing to London. Singler, 36, was apprehended in west London on December 30, 2023, following the tragic discovery of her nine-year-old daughter, Elianna, and seven-year-old son, Aden, found dead on December 19, 2023, in Colorado Springs.
During the court proceedings at Westminster Magistrates' Court, District Judge John Zani ruled against Singler's extradition appeal, stating that the matter would now proceed to the UK home secretary, who will determine whether she will be sent back to face charges.
The case has drawn significant attention, particularly due to the alarming context of acrimonious custody battles that Singler was engaged in with her ex-husband, Kevin Wentz. Prosecutor Joel Smith detailed the events of December 19, when Colorado Springs police responded to a 911 call about a possible burglary, only to discover the children's bodies and a blood-stained handgun at the scene.
Forensic evidence gathered from the handgun and a knife indicated the presence of mixed DNA profiles linking Singler and the deceased children. A third unnamed child was reportedly found injured but survived the attack. Smith noted that Singler attempted to shift the blame onto her ex-husband, who was confirmed to have been in Denver with a verifiable alibi at the time of the incident.
