In brief

The presidential press service announced the revenue projection during a government meeting chaired by President Emomali Rahmon on Oct. 30, 2026. The 2027 budget includes 36.7 billion somoni earmarked for social spending, making up 44.8 % of total expenditures. Rahmon urged ministries to adopt digital tools, expand the tax base, clear arrears, boost domestic production and curb imports to meet the target.

DUSHANBE, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) – During a government meeting chaired by President Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan’s state budget revenue was projected to reach 80.1 billion somoni, roughly 8.7 billion U.S. dollars, in 2027, a 23.2 % rise from the approved 2026 figure, according to the presidential press service.

The meeting also reviewed a draft state budget law for 2027 and presented projected figures for 2028 and 2029, with revenue expected to grow to 90.2 billion somoni in 2028 and 104.6 billion somoni in 2029.

Rahmon, speaking to the assembled ministries and agencies, urged the adoption of advanced digitalization strategies, electronic data exchange, and broader tax base measures to achieve the budget targets.

He also emphasized the importance of clearing tax arrears, boosting domestic production, and reducing imports as key components of the fiscal strategy.

According to the budget plan, 36.7 billion somoni will be allocated for social spending in 2027, representing 44.8 % of total budget expenditures.

Strategic Measures to Achieve the Projection

The presidential press service highlighted a comprehensive set of steps that ministries would implement, including the expansion of the tax net to cover a wider range of economic activities and the integration of digital tools for tax collection.

Digitalization, according to Rahmon’s directives, would allow for more efficient electronic data exchange between citizens, businesses, and government entities.

Leadership also called for tightening compliance through arrears clearance, asserting that the removal of outstanding tax liabilities would contribute significantly to the projected revenue increase.

Efforts to stimulate domestic production feature in the plan, with an emphasis on reducing import dependency across key sectors.

Rahmon’s announcement came as part of the broader fiscal review meeting that also covered draft legislation for the coming year.

The projected 2027 revenue figure, when converted at 1 U.S. dollar equals 9.21 somoni, illustrates the government’s commitment to a robust fiscal trajectory.

Observers note that the 23.2 % raise from 2026 is substantial, reflecting an ambitious push toward higher tax efficiency and broader economic participation.

While the figure highlights a positive outlook for the national budget, the success of the plan will rely on the timely execution of the identified measures across ministries.

In sum, this announcement marks a decisive step by the Tajikistan administration to elevate its fiscal standing through digitalization, tax base expansion, and targeted economic reforms.
