Maldives rolled out its global tourism campaign on November 4, 2026 during the World Travel Market in London, aiming to boost visitor arrivals and support local island economies. Minister of Tourism Mohamed Ameen highlighted the initiative’s focus on promoting Maldivian heritage and hospitality, while the campaign’s CEO Abdulla Yasir stressed its role in linking luxury resorts with local communities.

In a press briefing in Malé on November 4, 2026, the Maldives introduced its global tourism campaign Visit Maldives Year 2027 – Celebrate the Sunny Side at the World Travel Market London 2026, a forum for travel trade partners and international media.

Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen opened the session, asserting that the new initiative would highlight Maldivian identity, heritage, and hospitality while strengthening the nation’s position in the global tourism market.

Earlier that year, President Mohamed Muizzu had declared 2027 a milestone year for the tourism sector, a move that set the stage for the campaign’s launch.

Abdulla Yasir, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives Corporation, explained that the campaign seeks to create more inclusive economic opportunities by linking the country’s luxury resort sector with local island communities.

He added that the multi‑year strategy will feature international roadshows, cultural showcases, and targeted marketing campaigns designed to expand tourist arrivals and deepen community participation.

The campaign’s emphasis on both established and emerging markets reflects a broader goal of diversifying visitor demographics while maintaining the Maldives’ reputation for high‑end tourism experiences.

Officials noted that the marketing strategy will showcase the country’s natural beauty and unique cultural offerings, aiming to attract travelers looking for both relaxation and authentic island experiences.

Under the program, luxury resorts are expected to collaborate with community‑based tourism operators, providing training and infrastructure support that benefit both business and residents.

Analysts predict that the campaign could lead to increased tourism inflows, supporting local supply chains and generating jobs across various island sectors.

As the Maldives prepares to celebrate its 49th year of independence in 2027, the tourism campaign positions the island nation to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global travel landscape while safeguarding the interests of its local communities.
