At least one person is dead and nine others are injured after a shooting and a fire at a Mormon church in Michigan, local police say.
Officials reported an active shooter incident at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, located 60 miles northwest of Detroit, on Sunday morning.
There are multiple victims and the shooter is down, police stated. The identities of the suspect and victims have not yet been disclosed, and a motive is still under investigation.
The Grand Blanc Township Police Department reassured the public that there is no further threat and that the fire has been contained.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi expressed her gratitude for the briefings she received on the situation, describing it as a horrific shooting and fire. She also conveyed her condolences, asking for prayers for the victims affected by this tragedy.
FBI Director Kash Patel labeled the incident as a cowardly and criminal act and confirmed that federal agents were on their way to assist local authorities.
