In brief

During the second day of Dubai Future Finance Week, the Dubai International Financial Centre announced a partnership that provides up to 6,000 Japanese startups with direct access to its rapidly growing fintech and AI ecosystem. The move follows the center’s announcement of a new Dubai FinTech Stack and the publication of the Digital Economy 2.0 report. DIFC CEO Arif Amiri highlighted the center’s progress since 2016, noting more than 2,000 AI, fintech and innovation companies operating within Dubai’s financial hub.

DIFC announced on November 3, 2026 that it will give up to 6,000 Japanese startups direct access to its innovation ecosystem, a move that came during the second day of the inaugural Dubai Future Finance Week in Dubai. In a partnership revealed in a press release, the Dubai International Financial Centre said the initiative will open new opportunities for collaboration, investment and international expansion for Japanese companies in the region.

The announcement was made under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, and President of DIFC. It coincided with DIFC’s unveiling of the Dubai FinTech Stack, a set of tools aimed at supporting the establishment, growth and overseas expansion of emerging financial technology businesses.

“Surpassing 2,000 companies specialising in AI, FinTech and innovation represents a significant milestone for the Centre, achieved in less than a decade after launching our vision to drive the future of finance,” said Arif Amiri, Chief Executive Officer of DIFC Authority, during his keynote address on the second day of the Dubai FinTech Summit. Amiri explained that the centre’s vision was launched in 2016, followed by the FinTech Accelerator in 2017 with just 11 startups, before evolving into a comprehensive ecosystem that brings together innovative businesses, financial institutions, investors and specialised talent.

The Dubai FinTech Stack will provide an integrated infrastructure that supports the establishment, growth and international expansion of fintech startups. It follows the news that the number of AI, FinTech and innovation companies operating within the DIFC ecosystem has exceeded 2,000, and is part of the broader Digital Economy 2.0 report released at the same time, which projects the global fintech market will reach US$1.5 trillion by 2030.

The launch of the Japanese‑startup partnership fits into the Dubai Economic Agenda, known as D33, which aims to position Dubai among the world’s top four global financial centres. The partnership statement does not yet disclose the specific terms of the inclusion, but it highlights DIFC’s ambition to provide the regulatory environment, infrastructure and talent pools required for successful scale‑up.

As the Dubai Future Finance Week continues until November 6, participants have been able to hear about the new partnership, the Dubai FinTech Stack and the broader ambitions of DIFC’s growth strategy, underscoring the Centre’s commitment to creating a globally connected innovation hub.
