On 30 October 2026 a high‑level delegation from the Dubai Transportation Security Department and national rail operator Etihad Rail visited Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to review the security standards of the Al Shera’a Bridge, which links DEWA’s new headquarters to the Al Jaddaf Metro Station.

The visit was part of DEWA’s effort to maintain the highest standards of safety, emergency preparedness and sustainable urban development, according to the agency’s commitment to the Dubai Social Agenda 33. Delegates expected to examine engineering, safety and environmental protocols for the bridge and the surrounding infrastructure.

Maj Gen Obaid Saeed Al Hathboor, Director of the Transportation Security Department in Dubai, welcomed the delegation. He said the visits were part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and to share expertise among transport and infrastructure entities.

"Joint efforts have helped establish the Al Shera’a Bridge as a benchmark and a model for similar projects. At the Transport Security Department, we remain committed to our pivotal role in establishing and developing security requirements and standards for the transport network, bridges and associated buildings, in coordination with our strategic partners,"

Al Hathboor said. The statement was echoed by senior officials from DEWA and the transportation and rail sectors, all of whom praised the institution’s integrated approach to security and sustainability.

During the visit, officials from DEWA—Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources; Khawla Al Mehairi, Executive Vice President of Strategy and Government Communications; Zaal bin Zaal, Vice President of Supply Chain Management, Quality, Health, Safety and Environment; and Omar Al Mansoori, Chief Operating Officer—met with the delegation. Other DEWA officials also attended the meeting, expressing approval of the bridge’s safety and operational performance.

The delegation included senior officers from the Transportation Security Department and specialists in construction and project management from Etihad Rail. Their presence was intended to evaluate the bridge’s security protocols, emergency response plans, and integration with Dubai’s broader transport network.

Deputy Director of Quality and Safety at DEWA highlighted that the Al Shera’a Bridge would serve as a model for new projects across the emirate, noting that the bridge’s design incorporates advanced monitoring systems and robust structural resilience to meet both local and international standards.

During the assessment, observers examined the bridge’s surveillance infrastructure, access control measures, and its alignment with the city’s emergency evacuation routes. The review was described as a collaboration‑driven process that seeks to align DEWA’s standards with the latest national guidelines set by transportation security authorities.

Both the visiting delegation and DEWA officials agreed that the assessment would ensure that the bridge continues to meet the highest safety and security benchmarks, and would provide a reference point for future infrastructure projects in Dubai.
