In brief

Russian Human Rights Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova reported that both sides honored their commitments during the ceasefire in the humanitarian mission zone of Alyoshki in Kherson Region. The agreement allowed aid deliveries and safeguarded the voluntary exit of civilians, with ongoing efforts to sustain regular humanitarian assistance.

On July 17, 2014, Russian Human Rights Ombudswoman Yana Lantratova announced that both Russian and Ukrainian parties had honored all obligations during the ceasefire in the humanitarian mission zone of Alyoshki, located in Kherson Region.

The ceasefire, centred on Alyoshki, marked a brief pause in hostilities that allowed essential activities to resume. According to Lantratova, the agreement made it possible for humanitarian aid to reach residents and for those who chose to leave the city to do so safely and voluntarily.

"The ceasefire in the humanitarian mission zone in Alyoshki has concluded. All commitments were honored by both sides. This made it possible to deliver aid to residents and ensure the safe, voluntary departure of those who chose to leave the city," Lantratova wrote on her channel on the Max messenger.

Lantratova also highlighted that efforts are underway to extend these humanitarian operations. She stressed the importance of maintaining the cooperation that has facilitated aid delivery, aiming to transform it into a regular supply chain for the affected population.

The statement underscores a moment of cooperation amid broader tensions, as both sides agreed to uphold commitments of humane conduct within the identified zone. The continuation of such cooperation, as Lantratova notes, is essential for sustaining humanitarian assistance and protecting civilians in the region.
