NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Country music star Morgan Wallen has found himself in hot water following an incident involving a chair thrown from the roof of a Nashville honky-tonk bar. He was arrested in April 2024 and charged with reckless endangerment, though he denied the allegations to police based on footage obtained by The Associated Press.
In the police video, Wallen is seen responding to officers, stating, I don’t know” when questioned about the chair incident. His bodyguards and associates repeatedly insisted he didn’t throw anything. However, witness statements and police body cam footage contradicted their claims.
About two weeks after the incident, Wallen took to social media to express regret for his actions and acknowledged that he would accept responsibility. By December, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment.
During the arrest, police cameras captured a broken chair lying near an officer's patrol car, prompting officers to investigate. Multiple witnesses affirmed that they witnessed Wallen throw the chair, and he was eventually cuffed after police reviewed security tapes.
Wallen's legal troubles come amid a backdrop of controversies throughout his career, including prior arrests for public intoxication and the use of a racial slur. Following his guilty plea, he was sentenced to a DUI education program and two years of supervised probation, with the possibility of expungement after completing probation.
Morgan Wallen remains a significant figure in country music, known for hits like One Thing at a Time which recently broke records. However, his legal issues continue to cast a shadow over his successful career.
