Tunisia fire coach after one-game World Cup defeat

Tunisia terminated the contract of head coach Sabri Lamouchi following a 5‑1 loss to Sweden in Group F of the 2026 World Cup at Estadio Monterrey, Guadalupe, Mexico.

Sources confirmed that the 54‑year‑old was to undergo training the next day, but the Tunisian Football Association later announced a mutual agreement ending his tenure. The former Morocco and Saudi Arabia manager Hervé Renard has been appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the tournament.

Lamouchi’s dismissal makes him the first manager in World Cup history to be sacked after a single match, after winning only one of his five games in charge.

The Tunisian squad will now face Japan and the Netherlands in their remaining Group F fixtures.
