A Russian strike has killed at least four people, including three young children, in a town west of Kharkiv, a Ukrainian official says. Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, reported that two boys aged one, a two-year-old girl, and a 34-year-old man died after a drone hit a house they were staying in. A 35-year-old pregnant woman and another woman, aged 76, were injured in the strike on Bohodukhiv.

This attack comes as Moscow resumes strikes following a week-long pause after US President Donald Trump urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to refrain from military actions due to severe cold weather sweeping across Ukraine. Synegubov mentioned that the attack occurred on Tuesday night amidst ongoing tensions.

In addition, Russian forces dropped seven bombs on the city of Slovyansk around noon on that Tuesday, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including an 11-year-old girl. Furthermore, recent drone strikes have devastated Bohodukhiv earlier in the week, killing a mother and her 10-year-old son, according to Ukrainian officials.

Bohodukhiv, located west of Ukraine's second-largest city Kharkiv, has faced significant military pressure as Russian forces target critical infrastructure with a record number of ballistic missiles, as stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Local authorities have declared a state of emergency over the energy situation following the expiration of an 'energy truce' that was supposed to provide relief during extremely low temperatures. As the conflict escalates, calls for discussions on possible peace progress led by the US have emerged, amid reports of heightened drone activity by Ukraine in Russian territories.
