Police are investigating an apparent homicide after two people were found dead at the Los Angeles home of director and actor Rob Reiner.

Firefighters were called to a house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon, where they discovered a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, both pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the deceased have not been revealed, nor have the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Both individuals are of similar ages to Reiner and his wife, Michele.

Rob Reiner is a prominent Hollywood filmmaker known for classics such as The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and This is Spinal Tap.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, medical aid was requested for the residence on Chadbourne Avenue around 3:38 PM local time.

Brentwood is a high-end area in LA that is home to various celebrities. Robbery homicide detectives have commenced an investigation into the matter and have characterized it as an apparent homicide.

Upon entering the residence, authorities found the two deceased. Details regarding the circumstances of their deaths remain undisclosed.

Reiner, well-known for his role as Meathead in the 1970s sitcom All in The Family, was previously married to actress Penny Marshall. He is also the adoptive father of Marshall's daughter, actress Tracy Reiner.

In 1989, he married Michele Reiner, and the couple shares three children together: Jake, Nick, and Romy.
