Three Dead, Several Injured in Seattle Food Festival Shooting
Three people have been killed and several others injured following a shooting at a food festival near the Space Needle in Seattle on Sunday, the city fire department said.
Mayor Katie Wilson confirmed that one suspect was taken into custody at the Seattle Centre, while a second suspect fled and remains at large. Assistant Chief of Seattle Police Tyrone Davis added that the suspect gunfire appears to have been directed at each other.
Two deaths were confirmed on scene, with a third victim dying later in hospital; among the injured was a two‑year‑old boy. Videos circulating online show attendees taking cover inside the Space Needle lobby.
The Seattle Police Department is continuing the investigation and urged residents to avoid the area. Governor Bob Ferguson and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal issued statements condemning the violence and expressing support for victims’ families.
Four injured persons were transported to hospitals in stable condition; a fifth opted not to receive treatment. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation as a tragic example of senseless gun violence in the United States.
